What's new
Everything that changed, newest first.
Fixes, and a place for bugs 2.0.3 22 October 2026
- Tell us about bugs and ideas. The Help link at the top of every page, and the Help and bugs button in the editor, show you where to tell us.
- Undo in a room no longer undoes a friend's newer change to the same block. It stops and tells you, and pressing it again skips that step.
- A new project could open with a blank stage, and pointing at a sprite then crashed the editor. That is fixed.
Squiggle 2.0 2.0 21 October 2026
- Five new kits. World makes tile levels with a camera and a tile painter. Scenes gives you levels, menus and cutscenes. Animate adds glides, bounces and costume clips. Game Tools can move things toward a spot, roll a chance and send messages with data. 3D lets you walk through your tile levels in first person.
- Easier to find things. The extension library now sorts into Multiplayer, Game World, FX and UI, and Classic.
- Rooms got a panel. See who is here, follow a friend around the project, invite someone, and look back through the room's history. A little chip tells you when your changes have reached everyone.
- Lost your connection? When you come back, Squiggle asks if you want to keep the work you did while offline.
- Night and Day. Pick a dark or light look for the editor and these pages, or choose Auto to match your device.
- More on phones. Paint tiles, switch scenes and search for blocks on your phone. Games that use keys show a game pad and action buttons.
- Rooms start near you. A room runs close to the first person who opens it, so edits and chat have a shorter trip for friends in the same area.
- A new home page says what Squiggle is and has a short part for parents, and maker profiles got a new look too.
Talk while you build 1.8 21 October 2026
- Rooms have a chat. Open Chat in the editor (or the Room tab on a phone) to talk with everyone building with you. Everyone in the room sees every message, and there are no private messages.
- Quick phrases. If you are under 13, or playing without an account, you chat with ready-made phrases and emoji like "Nice work!" and "Hi!".
- The host is in charge. Whoever owns the room can turn chat off or mute someone. If a message feels wrong, press the three dots and Report it. A real person looks at it.
- Messages. Everything from the bell now has its own page at Messages, and a red number shows when something new arrives.
- @mentions. Type @ and someone's name in a comment to let them know.
Squiggle on your phone 1.7 20 October 2026
- The editor fits a phone. One thing at a time: Code, Stage, Sprites, Costumes, and Room when you are building with friends. Go and Stop are always at the top.
- Games have buttons. On a phone or tablet, a game shows arrow keys and a Space button, but only the ones it uses. They work in full screen too.
- Every page got bigger buttons and stopped sliding sideways on small screens.
- If you are under 13 and a grown-up has not said yes yet, your home page shows the date your account will be removed if nobody answers. Ask them to check their email.
Keeping each other safe 1.4 31 July 2026
- Rooms are invite-only to start with. Someone with your link can watch and play, but building in your room is something you turn on or invite them to. A link you shared once can end up anywhere.
- Only the host can open a different project into a room. Opening one replaces what everybody is working on, so it belongs to whoever's room it is.
- Squiggle now reads what gets typed: comments, and also sprite names, variables and say blocks. It quietly asks a person to look at anything that seems like someone fishing for your age, your school, or a way to talk to you somewhere else. It can hold a message for review; it can't tell you off.
- Grown-up accounts. When you make an account we ask what month and year you were born (never the day). If you're under 13 we email a grown-up to say hello. You can start building straight away; they just need to say yes before other people can see your projects.
- If something in a room ever feels wrong, use Report. It reaches a real person.
Play together, talk together 1.3 30 July 2026
- Any game message. The Together extension has a new block, when I receive any game message, so one script can react to everything instead of you writing a hat block per message. Use game message name and game message value inside it to see which one arrived.
- Explore got faster and stopped breaking on the most popular sort.
- Painting together stopped fighting. Two people drawing on the same costume no longer undo each other, and a snapshot arriving mid- brushstroke no longer yanks the canvas away.
- Shared links now show a proper preview when you paste them.
A place to put your games 1.2 28 July 2026
- Publishing and the gallery. Share a finished project, play other people's at Explore, and love the ones you like.
- Comments on published projects, with a filter that blocks personal details and links to other sites.
- Play together. Anyone can join a game session from a code, and one person drives.
- Accounts without email. A name and a secret word, with four recovery words to write down. No email address needed.
The first one 1.1 25 July 2026
- Building together, live. Blocks, sprites, costumes and paint strokes all appear on everyone's screen as they happen.
- The Together extension: shared variables and game messages, so two people can play the same game from different computers.
- Version history. Every room keeps snapshots, so an afternoon can be undone if somebody paints over the wrong thing.
